Carbonite deviates from the standard operating procedure of most backup solutions by installing a small app that stealthily monitors your system tracking new and changed files that require backing up. Files are encrypted twice before they depart from your PC and remain encrypted on the offshore servers making it impossible to access unless your password is provided. Most of this occurs when the PC is idle so you can play Quake or Halo 3 without any lag. Of all services I like Carbonite the most.
