Mint.com a California company delivered an Android App for finance. The App lets Mint.com users access a complete snapshot of their financial picture and manage their finances on the go. Mint.com, was acquired by Intuit for $170 million last fall. Last November it initially announced the development of the free app.
Building on the success of the iPhone app, the Android App includes the ability for users to see real-time account balances, check recent transactions; compare their spending against their monthly budgets, and edit transaction details. However, the app also contains a few features that are exclusive to the Android connection. These include an easy search for recent transactions, a widget from Mint.com that includes snapshots of overall cash flow in real-time. It also includes Android live folders that provide users with a financial updates on the phone’s home screen without launching the Mint.com application.
There is a potential problem with security, as some of you are probably thinking. What if the Android phone is lost or stolen? You have all of your financial information in one app. Hmm. It can pose a potential security threat (remember last weeks cultural blowup about the Apple iPhone left at a bar!). However, Mint.com says that the application is password-protected, and the home website allows users to immediately disable access to the app.
Mint does a lot more beyond reporting and budget tracking. It has a patent-pending search tool. So the program makes the round looking through hundreds of offers from a number of providers to find the best deals on everything from bank accounts to brokerage accounts to credit cards, and financial matters.
Mint makes secure connections to almost all US banking financial institutions that have Internet banking operations. Your account information is frequently updated. Mint will categorize all of your purchases. It will show you where you spend your money and how much you spend. Your purchases on gas, groceries, parking, rent, restaurants, DVD rentals and more will be listed. And all of this will now be available on the Android App.
