Apple iPad an International Success

The iPad caused quite a sensation in the US when it was released. Crowds, long lines, enthusiastic Mac owners, enthusiastic iPhone owners were waiting to make the economic connection with their wallets and the iPad. Apple certainly liked it because they sold more than a million iPads in the first month alone. And not coincidentally, the iPad helped Apple knock off Microsoft as the most valued company. Quite an achievement for Apple since it doesn’t have the product market share that Microsoft does.

But it does go to show what vision can accomplish.

Well that’s not all. Apple released the iPad outside the U.S. on Friday. Its international launch proved to be a big day for the company given the large crowds that turned out. Supplies of the tablet device, however, may be limited overseas. It may be a nice problem to have…too many customers…but it can only be good for a short period of time; say about a week.

With so much of the tech world’s attention focused on the international release of Apple’s iPad, Reuters news service reported that all is not well on the supply side scenario. Apple may still be dealing with supply delivery issues that forced the company to delay its original international launch date to help satisfy American domestic demand. That delay was a month by some accounts.

However, the iPad is expected to go on sale  in a variety of foreign countries starting in mid-July. They are Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand and Singapore. But now it is on sale in Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Great Britain, Japan, Australia, and Canada.

So for  Apple it looks like the home runs keep blasting out of the park. Which is good for them, as long as they don’t suffer from a shortage of parts.
