Marriage And It’s Effect On Technology And The Internet

Marriage. Like death, it is inevitable. Ultimately you will encounter that one “right” person and make the leap, or maybe you will simply reach that point where it dawns on you that if you don’t hurry up and pair off with somebody you are going to grow old and die alone.
We are all selfish creatures, [...]

Food, Travel And The Blogosphere

The world is a big place. The more you see of it the more you realize how little of it you truly know. In such a vast sea of humanity, will we ever be able to get past all of our cultural and religious baggage to really understand each other?

Disheartened? Don’t Throw In The Towel

You are really into something. So much so that perhaps your friends and family joke about your “obsession”, or ask why you aren’t making a career out of it. You know that for the majority of us, the quickest way to suck the fun out of something you love is to make it your job. [...]

Getting The Most Out Of Your Home Theater Audio, Part 2

Affordable big screen televisions and high definition have changed the average person’s attention level when it comes to their home video and audio components. It’s hard to walk by a large high def display at an electronics store and not want that experience in your home, and the masses have jumped in head first.
Once [...]

Feedback: Expatriate Destinations

I’ve got 14 years left of raising kids and working for the man. I’m fortunate, in that I’ll be able to retire at a relatively young 56, hopefully before I’m all used up. More and more my thoughts about what that life will be like have switched from a quiet, pastoral rural retirement, with the [...]

The State of the 3D Desktop

August 23, 2002. That’s how long it’s been since we’ve had hardware accelerated compositing on the desktop, introduced in Mac OS X 10.2. Xwindows first received 3D compositing via Compiz in January 2006. In January 2007 Redmond joined the party with the release of the much maligned Windows Vista, which finally allocated desktop rendering duty [...]

Blog Comments, Technorati Authority and Passing Time

Many of us have used blog comments to jumpstart a new website. Links are a commodity, and beyond the benefit they impart when it comes to SEO, it’s easy to get caught up in a numbers obsession. Feverishly watching Analytics numbers, Alexa ranking, Pagerank and Technorati authority are all symptoms of this disorder.
Good links [...]

Remembering The Neo Geo

In 1990 those of you who hadn’t adopted the Sega Genesis early were still using Nintendo’s venerable NES as your videogame console. The NES had a big library of games that appealed to a wider audience than games ever had, and marked the beginning of true mass market appeal for videogames. In retrospect the Genesis [...]

Connected Internet Staff Day Jobs: Corrections Officer

What do the writers at Connected Internet do when we aren’t penning articles for you to read? Some of the logical guesses would be:
A) IT guys. Whether working for a big service provider or a corporation, we are somehow involved in keeping the hardware and network up and running. The classic way for a [...]
