If you are struggling to convert videos (avi, mpeg etc) so that they work on the latest iPods then I found this tool that does the trick for me and is free. Videora is very simple to use and has the tools available if you want to experiment with different codecs, compression rates etc.

It’s very good, although I use DVDfab now which is much better and does 2-pass encoding
