Studios Need To Synchronise TV Shows Globally
eirikso have posted a very funny cartoon strip about poor old Bob who has to resort to downloading his favourite show off the internet because he’s had enough of being weeks behind the U.S.
I have to admit that I also do this. As soon as my favourite shows are aired in the U.S. on say a Thursday I will download them overnight so that I can watch them the following day. In some cases this has meant that I’ve watched a whole series of my favourite show before that particular series has aired in the UK.
This makes me feel guilty so I go and buy the DVD box set when the series is available in the UK so I don’t feel like I’m stealing.
Somebody somewhere is losing money. The music industry has finally embraced downloads, so why haven’t the studios? When will the studios wake up to the fact that more and more people are doing this and simultaneously launch programming across the globe? They are increasingly doing this with movies, so why not TV shows? It even applies to books. Even though there isn’t an official German language version of the latest Harry Potter book you can already download a version over the net that has been produced by volunteers.
