State Of The Blogosphere, August 2005, Part 1: Blog Growth
David Sifry of Technorati has produced his latest “State of the Blogosphere” report. The last one was produced 6 months ago and since then Technorati has doubled the number of blogs that they track. His summary findings are:
- Technorati was tracking over 14.2 Million weblogs, and over 1.3 billion links in July 2005
- The blogosphere continues to double about every 5.5 months
- A new blog is created about every second, there are over 80,000 created daily
- About 55% of all blogs are active, and that has remained a consistent statistic for at least a year
- About 13% of all blogs are updated at least weekly
Tomorrow he is going to post some stats about posting frequency. I think this will be more interesting as I’d like to understand a bit better his active numbers as I think treating a blog that has had a post in the last 3 months as active is risky given that blogging is such a new fad and people may have been just trying it out.
