The Dark Side of Technorati Tags
Om Malik has made a great post about the one-sided nature of Technorati tags i.e. millions of blogs send traffic to Technorati but get very little traffic back in return.I’ve been adding tags to my posts for the last week or so and to be honest they’ve made next to no difference to my traffic levels.
I wouldn’t be so unhappy about the lack of traffic if Technorati were at least picking up my tags, as at least then I would be doing ‘my bit’ for the blogging community, but most of them never get picked up I think I’ll give it one more week and if things don’t improve then I will be boycotting Technorati. I don’t see why I should be one of the millions of blogs ‘conned’ into adding tags so that Technorati can get targetted traffic to sell advertising, without Technorati sending some traffic back.
Does anyone have anything positive to say about Technorati? Has your experience been different to mine?

Hi there,
We're not picking up your tags because they don't show up on your blog's main page or in its feed. They are tucked away under the 'read more' link on a separate page.
If you put full posts on the main page, we'd index you more completely. If you put the tags at the top of the post so they don't get truncated out of what we index, they would show up too. We don't follow links to individual post pages.
Sorry for not feeding you traffic.
