ahahahaha
A single HD 30 minute video is 350mb. I can download 1 episode of 1 TV series and be capped to 20kb/s for four hours? Virgin just lost a customer.

I think that it will be successful. I am having kids now and lego was what I did as a kid, so its easy for me to get involved with my kid. 8 year old kids are still listening to what their partents say.

I think it will be interesting, I might even take a sneak preview, embrace my childhood

CCleaner etc don't clear out the crap every boot automatically. If you have more than one user, then add a line to the batch file for each user.

About this part:

Speed Up Boot Times I

This tweak works by creating a batch file to clear the temp and history folders everytime you shutdown so that your PC doesn’t waste time checking these folders the next time it boots. It’s quite simple to implement:

      1. Open Notepad and create a new file with the following entries:

    * RD /S /q “C:\Documents and Settings”UserName without quotes”\Local Settings\History”
    * RD /S /q “C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Local Settings\History”
    * RD /S /q “D:\Temp” <–”Deletes temp folder, type in the location of your temp folder”

Where is the temp folder you are referring to for example windows has one by its own, each user has it's own and do you mean temp folder or temporary internet files, which temp folder do you mean, and there are programs out there to delete these things(CCleaner,Index.dat Analyzer

I am a Three customer with a USB modem, it promises 3.6Mb/s download and all I'm getting is around 240Kb using this sites speed check or 1/5 of 1Mb/s. There customer service here in Ireland is also terrible, if you miss one month's payment on direct debit they will threaten you with a debt collection agency being sent around to your address. I can't wait for August to arrive so I can part company with them. Rank amateurs!

I remember playing Lego when I was a kid. It's really fun but I am not sure if the new game will be a succes for Lego since children from 8 to 12 are already playing MMO games that I think much better is like WOW or Counter Strike.

have been using FFDShow, and MKV codecs, they do work like a charm!

there are times when you would like to burn CDs of your favourite movies,
1. download TMPGEnc (if you can get a hold of the old free version, im still using "TMPGEnc-2.524.63.181-Free")
2. convert any format to MPEG (using FFDSHOW),
3. for regular CDs => TMPGenc has an inbuilt MPEG splitter
4. burn with nero or any other software!

thats it!

Hiya Dan, tried to go look at your site, but this is what AVG returned.....The page you are trying to access has been identified as a known exploit, phishing, or social engineering web site and therefore has been blocked for your safety. Without protection, such as that in the AVG Security Toolbar and AVG, your computer is at risk of being compromised, corrupted or having your identity stolen. Please follow one of the suggestions below to continue.....any ideas why?

No problem. My mom was a hippie in Berkeley and lived on an ashram in Pennsylvania post-hippie. She now teaches kundalini yoga and hosts women's groups and does naturopathic healing. There was nothing less cool to me than their generation's masturbatory self-involvement when I was coming of age.

I was in a hardcore punk band in the 80s, then a biker, now I'm in law enforcement. I tend to be more pragmatic and matter-of-fact. There's no question that if you at all feel that the journey we're all on should result in some sort of evolution of the spirit that you appreciate the implications of marriage and parenthood before you engage, and during the trip.

Honestly, most days I could just use a good nap to recover from all the double shifts I work, and more time with my two year old. Oh yeah, and a date with my wife so we remember why we thought all this was a good idea in the first place. If there's any time left over after all that, I might even write a blog article or watch a movie on my big screen :)

I think it is hard to say if it will be a success yet or not. As a long term lover of lego the brand works with me well, which I think will be the case for many parent who had many years of successful development as a youngster themselves.

I'm wondering what will transfer into the MMO from the real bricks. For example, will the avatars have to have such a bricky design or will the MMO universe allow them to evolve? :O)

More importantly, and with Nicole's comment above in mind too, I wonder what exactly will be the benefit of kids getting involved. With real lego the creativity and exploration was immense IMO, so how does that transfer into the MMO?

I have no experience of the games so don't know how well Lego got on with transferring the creativity that I experienced as a child with Lego into the gaming world. I only hope for kids, and for Lego that their online world will enable an explosion of creativity rather than it ending up being a 'follow me' project.

your article does touch on something more fundamental about relationships and what individuals are and can give and accept about changing themselves. What is giving too much about? what is giving too little about? perhaps this is a bit too heavy at this hour of the morning :O)

Well first of all the article, while containing more than a bit of truth, is obviously tongue in cheek.

I think I'm pretty clear on marriage and parenthood opening up avenues of growth that make us not just better spouses and parents, but better people. I wouldn't change a thing about my life.

Thanks for the comment, keep reading CI

HI Michael. When does a compromise or a democracy turn into an erasing of your own character when you choose to share your life with someone?

I don't think there is an answer to this (although I have written a lot myself about these issues).

I think essentially, for each of us we have to choose what we can offer up to our partners that we are willing to reduce/stop, and what is so important to us we continue that we decide it is part of who we are.

I think it is important that this is a conscious process and one that is not stumbled upon as the situations occur only to generate potential bitterness between each of you.

I agree and believe that it is important to change your ways to share your life with someone but it is vital that you do not loose what is the essence of you in that process.

So many separations are due to this, and so many people afterwards realise they compromised themselves too much and lost part of themselves that they missed within a relationship.

Love the blog. Keep it up :O)

I spent a good part of yesterday implimenting many of your suggestions. I did not disable the performance counters as it wasn't clear to me that this program was for Windows XP Home Edition, which is what I have, unfortunately. The Microsoft site referenced stipulates XP Professional and/or 2003 Server I believe it was. Memory use seems to be a good bit improved. However, one problem I am encountering is that when I attempt to open either Word or Outlook, Windows attempts to reinstall the programs and prompts for a CD to be inserted. I am reluctant to do this as I am afraid of losing all my data and settings, etc. Moreover, if I cancel these reinstall windows out enough times (they tend to pop up repeatedly), Word and Outlook eventually open fine with all my old data. Outlook Express still works fine, as does Windows Live Mail - or, at least in the case of the latter, as good as it capable of... I did try reinstating a number of the services I had turned off (Alerter, Clipbook, etc.,) to no avail. Help?

Outlook Express still works fine, as does Windows Live Mail - or, at least in the case of the latter, as good as it capable of… I did try reinstating a number of the services I had turned off (Alerter, Clipbook, etc.,) to no avail. Help?

No matter what, I would not let any kid of mine anywhere near this till he finishes school and leaves home. This can develop into a time sucking pastime which children can ill afford in these highly competitive times. As it is, they are not spending enough time outdoors, at least certainly not as much time as we did in our youth, and exposure to virtual games, will drive them further into being couch potatoes.

Spot on. I'm currently doing a day job whilst building a number of sites up. Evenings tend to get eaten pretty quickly with all the additional work that I have to do. Not so sure about getting up a 0500! :) Anyhow, my site: Techviews.

Based on my research the last few days, “winners” in court are far and few between. But it is obviously a significant problem.
These guys make a living out of getting online libel removed but seem to be more focused on out-of-court solutions: www.rexxfield.com

If anyone know of good resources for a research paper on international online libel. precedent etc. Let me know please.

Thank you much

Yes, there's ebay. But your market there is very diffused.

At DP, you have people rabid for specific SEO/online skills- and if you have those skills, you can quickly monetize.

After I spent $$$$$$ on numerous $5 to $50 ebooks at DP, I discovered how this marketplace can make you more cash than being an affiliate marketer for clickbak- or a regular ebayer.

My one hint: don't sell trash. Your rep will suffer and no one will purchase from you in the future. Give em superb quality and before you know it, you'll be a star vendor.

I made sure that what I sold delivers on its promise- so much so that people who bought from me even reported to the mods some miscreants who started pirating my stuff.
