What directory software do you recommend?

Hi Everton,

We launched our Dating, Love, & Sex forums almost 2 months ago and it's going great. All our questions from our readers are going straight there now.  We've got a whole panel of experts helping us answer questions - so everyone gets and answer fast, and the community is growing by leaps and bounds every day. Went with vBulletin btw, a choice we're very, very happy with.

Although let me tell you, wrapping our custom theme around vbulletin was, well, let's just say I don't' remember that week very well, which is just as well. It's done now. LOL

My next project is add a directory to our site, similar to what you've done - it's a lot better than having "links" pages, etc. From your research, which software would you recommend as the most flexible - and also low server overhead - to do this? I'd like it to be self service like yours, so visitors can submit their own sites that you can approve, and also would be nice for other visitors to be able to rate existing entries.

Suggestions?

well i started browsing through them and just got confused because there are different ?types? of directories and i didn?t know what they were. it was more technically challenging to find a directory template than just a regular blog theme. so i haven?t done that much investigating yet. i have so many other things going on that i need to focus on right now, so trying to research a whole different type of site is too time consuming for me right now?at least this month?
