Vodafone Germany to Block Skype
In what has to be one of the most predictable developments, Vodafone Germany have announced that from 2007 they will be blocking VoIP calls. It won’t be long before other operators follow I think.
I think the operators are making a big mistake here and trying to ban VoIP is a bad business plan. [...]
I’ve Given Up On My 6630
I had an absolutely nightmare day with my 6630. It has just got worse and worse lately, randomly turning itself off or while I’m in a call ’scrambling’ the audio so it sounds like someone is trying to jam my signal.
Vodafone are sending me a Nokia 6680 as a replacement so it will be [...]
Mobile Data Is Such A Rip-off
I remember reading somewhere that printer cartridge ink is the most expensive liquid on the planet when you work out how much it costs per litre.
I think mobile data tariffs are the most expensive data tariffs. In the UK 1Mb costs £2.35 - this compares with 0..06p/Mb with my hosting company………..
Blackberries - When Will The Bubble Burst?
Why have Blackberries been such a success? They don’t really offer anything special and it seems like Nokia agree.
As you know I’m not a big fan My 6630 has a decent enough email client on it and the only reason I don’t get my work email on it is because we run an old [...]

Nokia and Intel partner on mobile WiMax
After a hot and cold relationship with WiMax in the past, Nokia has thrown its support behind the high-speed wireless technology.
The Finnish mobile giant announced on Friday that it is partnering with Intel to develop 802.16e — which could potentially support high-speed wireless access over much longer distances than are possible with Wi-Fi today.
“WiMax will [...]

Wi-Fi Skype Mobile
Skype’s CEO recently confirmed that a Wi-Fi enabled Skype mobile will be out this year.
It will be interesting to see how it copes with roaming - moving between GPRS/3G to Wi-Fi when available. I seem to remember reading somewhere that GPRS is currently too slow to run Skype.
