Design And Monetization

Good design draws a reader in instead of repelling them. Good design makes your web site appear more credible. Design is secondary to content, but it’s an important cornerstone of your web site’s foundation. Since design is subjective, mastering the design that works for your web site is a task you will never really consider [...]

Fixed Final WordPress 2.3 Errors

Sorry it’s taken so long, but I think I’ve finally fixed the annoying ‘Table ‘connecte_wrdp1. wp_post2cat’ doesn’t exist’ errors that kept popping up. The culprit was the Extended Live Archives plugin that generates my funky archives page, that relied on WordPress tables that no longer exist.
The fix I located seems to have worked but [...]

5 Ways to Drive Me Away From Your Blog

The blog explosion that the internet has been enjoying (or cursed with, depending on your point of view) reminds me very much of the initial internet explosion in the 90’s. There are blogs for whatever tickles your fancy, some of them very close to the best commercial websites in their niche, others little more than [...]

This week’s Show Me Your Desktop interview is a real treat, well actually they all are, but I’m particularly proud of this one. First of all because of the one being interviewed, but more importantly because this is the first time I didn’t write to him directly, but through his publicist.
But first things first [...]

It appears to be a fairly common thing for people to judge their site’s success on the pagerank of their homepage. Subsequently, they focus quite a bit on just getting backlinks to their homepage and no other links. It may make you feel better when your homepage ranks PR4, but you have no [...]

How to Make Money Stealing Other People’s Content*

One of the reasons that fudged statistics and even outright lies have a tendency to spread rapidly through the mainstream media is that the mainstream media does something that the blogosphere is only just waking up to: re-writing competitors’ stories without doing additional reporting.
In other words, one way to rapidly and cheaply generate content is [...]

Major Companies, The Vatican And Governments Busted By Wikipedia Scanner

As some of you might know I’m running two other sites, www.fifa2008news.com and fm2008news.com. Both of these sites feature latest news about two football or soccer video games. They even have news that can’t be found anywhere else on the internet, since both games have their roots in Europe, I get the information before the [...]
