Virgin Media Need To Change Their Speed Capping Policy

With every day that goes by I am getting more and more frustrated with Virgin Media’s new speed capping policy. After having an unlimited genuine 10MB service from Telewest for 1 year for £35 a month with no complaints, I’m now paying £37 a month for a 20MB service which is effectively giving me [...]

New O’Reilly & TechCrunch UK Blogger: Imran Ali

After being sceptical in the past of social networking sites, I’m actually starting to find LinkedIn useful. It’s helped me reconnect with old friends who I’d lost touch with, and it’s even lined up a few good job opportunities for me as a result of my profile being available. In fact, I have [...]

Does OpenDNS Really Speedup Web Pages?

I just read a post on Lifehacker about OpenDNS, a free service that claims to speedup web surfing sessions and offer phishing protection. The diagram I’ve poached tries to explain why.

Analysts have noted that BSkyB rents rather than owns satellite capacity, so it could move towards Internet distribution over time.
“New Ethernet [...]

Bulldog To Press On With 20Mb Trial Despite Problems

The Register reports that Bulldog are planning to launch a 20Mb service, despite the nightmare they are currently having installing and provisioning 8Mb customers.I wonder how they will advertise the service, given that they’ve just had their knuckles rapped for not making it clear that their 8Mb speed is only available to people living close [...]

Broadband Deals: Orange/Wanadoo Offering 2Mb For £9.99

As part of Wanadoo’s rebranding as Orange, it is offering 2Mb broadband for £9.99 a month.  The offer is time-limited and available to new customers, or new customers if they extend their mobile contract.
I think the tie-up between Orange and Wanadoo could be quite interesting over the next couple of months, particularly if they offer [...]
