Updated Guide: How To Tidy Up MP3 ID3 Tags

My post ‘Tidy Up iTunes MP3 Collection’ is now nearly two years old, yet it is still one of the most popular posts each month. Given the mess that iTunes made of my iTunes library when I installed Vista I’ve had a lot of time to update my tagging methods.
My method below may seem [...]

Apple iTunes Now 3rd Largest Music Retailer In US

Apple iTunes is now the third largest retailer of music in the US with a 9.8% market share, according to a study just released by NPD Group MusicWatch, which measured both physical and downloadable music sales in the first quarter of 2007.
What I found particularly interesting is that iTunes now sells more music than Amazon.com, [...]

How To Remove Personal Information From iTunes DRM-free Songs

I knew it wouldn’t take long for a way to remove personal information from iTunes DRM-free songs. Apple still haven’t explained why they are adding name and buyer information to tracks, but it’s pretty safe to assume that it’s to track who is sharing music.
According to gHacks the personal information can be removed by [...]

User Details Embedded In DRM-Free iTunes Tracks

Although Apple iTunes now has DRM free mp3s available at a premium price, this doesn’t mean that users are now free to share the tracks. Apparently iTunes embeds within the mp3 file details of the person who purchased the track. Theoretically this means that iTunes could report back to Apple that User X’s [...]

How Many Aprils Fools Posts Did You Spot?

I just spotted the following post on OneTipADay which claims allows you to download music, movies etc from iTunes for free, which was my favourite Aprils Fools joke as I actually fell for it.
Which ones did you spot? Some were pretty obvious like gHack’s and TechCrunch’s, but John Chow’s took me about 30 seconds [...]

Apple iPhone Received $400m In Free Publicity

According to Harvard Business School professor David Yoffie the Apple iPhone has already received $400m in free publicity, thanks to so many sites talking non-stop about it for about a month after the iPhones launch:
“No other company has ever received that kind of attention for a product launch,” Yoffie says. “It’s unprecedented.”
Amazing numbers, particularly [...]

iTunes 7.1 Released But Still Has Vista Errors

I was just about to go to bed when I saw that Apple had released iTunes 7.1 that fixes some of the compatibility problems with Windows Vista.
Cover flow is now full screen. I’d forgotten how cool this was as I couldn’t use it on my Vista machine as the speed was horrendous. [...]

List Of Great iTunes Plugins

I’m still working on fixing the mess that Vista made of my iTune music library. It’s taking so long just to find the tracks where Vista changed the ID3 tags or moved the files, that I’m not sure I’ll have the heart to fix the tags once I’ve found all the errors.
I think [...]
