Ten Blogs I Would Take To A Desert Island
Steve Rubel has started a new meme listing his top 10 blogs. Not surprisingly Connected Internet isn’t in Steve’s top 10 but I don’t mind and Steve is still in my top 10.
Here’s my full list in no particular order:
MicroPersuasion: Steve’s interests seem to match mine and because he posts frequently I tend [...]

David Sifry of Technorati has produced his latest “State of the Blogosphere” report. The last one was produced 6 months ago and since then Technorati has doubled the number of blogs that they track. His summary findings are:
Technorati was tracking over 14.2 Million weblogs, and over 1.3 billion links in July 2005
The blogosphere [...]
Carbwire.com Blog For Sale
How much is a blog worth? Carbwire.com has put itself up for sale with a starting price of $10K for bids or a buy now price of $25K. Thankfully they have posted some metrics for any potential buyers.
However, I think their valuations are a bit rich:
Average annual income $4,200
Average monthly page views 65K
Average [...]
Technorati Launch Mobile Service
Technorati have launched a mobile service which is very clean and light and looks good on handsets. However, I can’t imagine ever using the service as it seems to link through to full web pages that will take ages to load on most phones and will look absolutely awful.
It would have been much more [...]
Google Ranking Factors - The Top 100
Steve Rubel had tracked down a list of the top 100 factors that affect page ranks. Some of these are blatantly obvious like having your keywords in your domain name and meta tags, but other less obvious ones like putting your keywords in bold and the font size of keywords.
Worth checking out as we [...]
MSN Virtual Earth - No European Coverage?
I just had a quick look at MSN Virtual Earth. For those of you that missed this launch, Virtual Earth is:
Virtual Earth is a new map and search system soon to be released by Microsoft. Virtual Earth brings together a number of components that allow the user to find out “What is here?” [...]

I tried being clever using the blogware categories to create tags which was too hard, so I’m taking Tris’s advice and trying out Qumana as it seems to offer the best way to add Technorati tags to my posts. So far it seems to be going well.So far I’ve noticed the following positives:
Formatting text [...]
25Jul2005 | Everton | 1 comment | ContinuedTechnorati And Blogware
How does Blogware integrate with Technorati? Does every word in the article get tagged or do only the words I put as keywords get tagged?
I’m trying to work out why my articles aren’t getting picked up in Technorati. Can anyone help? I’m just trying to work it out before I waste time [...]
IceRocket Link Tracker
I hope Trish doesn’t mind, but I copied some Javascript from his site that has added a cool IceRocket link tracker to my site that he has been testing.
I think this looks a lot nicer than the Cosmos/Technorati link as it has a counter so you can see how many links there are without having [...]
Hmm Not Sure If I Really Want To Be Slashdotted
I used to want to be slashdotted - not I'm not so sure…Sometimes getting more traffic isn't worth it if it's the wrong type of traffic. Problogger was recently slashdotted recently but ended up just receiving all the jerks from Slashdot.
I guess that's the thing about traffic generation. There's no point generating traffic for [...]
