SETI@home Hacked By Aliens!
Well it hasn’t happened yet, but The Guardian Unlimited reports that particle physicist Richard Carrigan has warned that ET and his buddies could use SETI@home to infect Earth’s computers with malicious code.
If ET is out there I’m sure he’s got better things to do with his time like getting his spaceship kitted out with [...]
Browse The Net Freely At Work And At School - Use A Proxy
The corporate firewall at my workplace is very draconian. I remember frantically trying to find a Sony logo before I had to give a presentation to Sony on network gaming, but having to give up as all Sony sites were blocked because they had links to Sony Playstations.
I used to get around this by [...]
Reduce Trackback Spam
I don’t know if this will work for everyone, but I found a post in a forum which listed the IP addresses of known Trackback spammers. Since I added these to the list of IP addresses I already had, my trackback spam has fallen to a more manageable level.I know that this method isn’t [...]

When I register for sites I’m not 100% confident in, or I don’t want to be spammed I create a temporary email address on one of my domain names e.g. temp@connectedinternet.co.uk. Then if I do end up getting spammed I can delete the emails. If you don’t own any domains then check out this great [...]

In my meeting with Kim from Blogware she told me about a new type of spam which at the moment blogware are calling referral spam. Basically this is where spammers link to your website in the hope that when you check out your referral stats you will click on the link to see who [...]
30Sep2005 | Everton | 2 comments | ContinuedPhew! Blogware Are Going to automatically delete the spam
Blogware are going to delete the spam posts directly from the server. Just as well, as I've only deleted about 100 manually so far and the remaining 900 would have taken forever.
Thanks Kim
Dying Under Comment Spam
I guess it had to happen at some point. I’ve just been hit with a major spam attack - over 900 in the last 30 minutes. It’s going to take me some time to clear them all out so please bear with me. Apologies in advance if you see any of the filth they [...]

Boffins at the University of California in Berkeley have devised a way of obtaining a password just by listening to the keystrokes.
I’ve always thought this was possible as there is a certain rhythm to the way people type and i guess each keystroke sounds different, particularly if pressed after a certain key.
