Invasion Of The Inexpensive, Linux-Powered Laptops
Moore’s law is at it again, and the latest sacred cow to be slaughtered by this force of nature is the notion that a laptop need weigh about 8 pounds and do everything that a desktop can do.
OK, so the notion of an ultra-portable PC isn’t exactly new–hardware manufacturers have been chipping away at it [...]
Quick Tip: How To Force A New Line In SMSs
I’m a texting freak. I think I must send nearly 500 SMSs a month. I just spotted a cool and useful SMS tip from Darla Mack via One Tip A Day that will allow me to send texts even faster.
I never knew that if you enter three zeros in an SMS on [...]

It seems that Nokia are in the process of improving the GPS function on the Nokia N95 through a firmware update. The new update for the Nokia N95 includes Assisted GPS (A-GPS) which lets N95 users connect to a dedicated Nokia server, to get satellite fixes in seconds rather than minutes.

O2 pulled the plug on its i-mode service, citing that ‘a limited range of devices has restricted its growth and we don’t see that changing’. I found this very surprising as I really think handsets are close to being able to deliver services that the mass market will want to use, and doubly surprising [...]

I sent my Nokia N95 back to T-Mobile last month to get the GPS and a problem with the call quality fixed. Unfortunately my N95 has come back with exactly the same problems, so I’ve got to send it back again.
Update: Just spoken to T-Mobile and apparently a lot of N95s have been suffering [...]

Well, the iPhone mass hysteria is nearly over and I think I did a pretty good job of not joining in. I did spot one story on Valleywag however, that I thought was quite funny and worth sharing.
20 year old Kris Tate of startup Zoomr was second in line behind Robert Scoble and his [...]
Will You Buy An iPhone Survey
I’ve deliberately not written about the iPhone over the last couple of days as I don’t think the amount of hype is justified. However, I am going to post the results of a iPhone survey that Read/WriteWeb have been running.
Out of 845 readers who were asked whether or not they were going to [...]

It’ll be interesting to [...]
Win An iPhone A Day With Heavy.com
Although, I’m very happy with my Nokia N95 (apart from not being able to find where I’m going…), THE phone to be seen with this summer will be the Apple iPhone. Forget registering with dating sites, if you want to get noticed this summer then get your hands on an iPhone.
Unfortunately, that could prove [...]
