Has RSS Usage Killed Off Personal Homepages?
This time last year personal homepages were all the rage, with both big players like Google, MSN and Yahoo! and also small players like netvibes and pageflakes all frantically developing services.
However, it’s rare these days to see any interesting stories break about personal homepages. I wonder, is this because RSS readers have stolen their [...]
Personalised AJAX Homepages: Roundup and Review
Personal homepages are making a comeback after being out of vogue for the last couple of years. Several of the established portals have teams working on developing new personalised homepage offerings as well as several new entrants hoping to gatecrash the sector. This week I’ve been playing with some of the latest offerings [...]

I’ve been using My Yahoo! as my homepage for about 8 years until recently. Within hours Scobie had replied, copied one of [...]

start.com/1 -> released in March 05
start.com/2 -> released in April 05
start.com/3 -> released in June 05
start.com/4 -> overdue???????
I really [...]
Should All Companies Blog To Improve Their Customer Service?
One pleasant thing I’ve noticed since I discovered blogging is how it allows you to affect the development and quality of various services. I’m still amazed sometimes how quickly companies have discovered my posts mentioning their companies and have replied either on my blog or via email, and it makes me feel good that [...]

After watching the channel 9 video which includes a demo of the upcoming Microsoft Start project it made me realise that portals don’t seem to be investing a lot of effort into allowing users to personalise their homepages anymore.
In the late 90s this was all the rage and offering personalisation was seen to be important [...]
