How To Make All Your MP3s Play At The Same Volume
I found this great article on how to make all your mp3s play at the same volume via Digg. I’ve tried using MP3Gain in the past, but I had problems. I think I ran into problems because I used the beta AAC convertor which was silly given that I only have around 200 [...]

I decided it was time to give the old blog some new functionality. I was going to implement a new theme, but couldn’t find one I liked (or one where I was comfortable tweaking!). So, I went on a plugin hunt to try and freshen up the old site. Here are [...]

Guide To Optimizing WordPress Servers
After moving hosts for some reason my WP-Cache2 plugin stopped caching pages and I couldn’t work out why, so I’ve spent the last couple of hours looking for alternatives as I wanted to make sure I don’t get into trouble again with my new host, even though I have a VPS now rather than a [...]

Adding the Telewest TVdrive to my home AV system (Hitachi 42PD6600 plasma, Panasonic SA-XR70, Xbox 360, Xbox running XBMC) increased my number of remotes to 6 (I have two remotes for the 360) and using the system was becoming too complicated. For example, for a ’simple’ task like watching TV I had to:

Firefox’s memory leakage problems are well documented. This tip from gHacks should reduce Firefox’s memory usage to under 10MB. It’s very simple to implement:
Write ‘about:config’ in your firefox address bar and hit enter.
Right click and select new Boolean.
Paste config.trim_on_minimize in the field and hit enter again
Select True from the list.
Restart Firefox.

I know I keep harping on about XBMC but given that Xbox’s can be picked up so cheaply on eBay now there is no cheaper way to build a fully-functional media center. Here are some screenshots of my setup in response to chall5’s request for screenshots of my setup and also to hopefully encourage [...]

I've been thinking recently about getting a hardware firewall as in my mind it should offer a better level of protection for my home network (currently I have 2 PCs, a Xbox 360 and 2 Modded Xboxs running XBMC connected to a Netgear WPN-824 router), whilst freeing up resources on my PCs.
It just seems [...]
