Digg Community Loyalty

Whatever you may think of the quality of Digg, you can’t deny that they have a loyal, if slightly misguided sometimes, userbase. Just look at the abuse a Yahoo blog received when Digg users found out that a recent re-design ‘borrowed’ some ideas from Digg.
I just hope that I never get on the wrong [...]

What’s Your Mobile Blog Strategy? Do You Even Have One?

I’m ashamed to say that despite being a big user of the mobile internet, I don’t have a mobile strategy for my blog. I’m convinced that after many false starts mobile browsing is about to really take off. Of course, mobile readers could subscribe to my feed but I want to do more [...]

Yahoo Say Removing DRM From Music Will Boost Sales

Slowly, but surely DRM is going out of favour. Last week we had Steve Jobs calling for DRM to be removed from music, and now we have Dave Goldberg, head of Yahoo Music, doing the same:
“I’ve long advocated removing DRM on music because there is already a lot of music available without DRM, [...]

Do You Remember When You First Used The Internet? Mine Involves Jennifer Aniston

A story on Scoble’s site just made me chuckle. Sugata Mitra put a computer in a hole in a wall in a remote village in India , and recorded what happened. The first to discover the computer was 13 year-old school dropout. He apparently told Sugata that:
“this is the [...]

MyBlogLog Spam

Ever since MyBlogLog got purchased by Yahoo which I guess put them on the radar of spammers, I’ve been getting 3-4 messages a day saying ‘check out this site!’ etc. Is anybody else having this problem? A very simple solution would be a setting to only allow messages from friends and contacts.
I [...]

Will Panama Allow Yahoo To Close The Gap On Google?

Yahoo, have started to roll out it’s search engine upgrade Panama across the US.  A statement on TechCrunch has just just made me realise that I’d totally misunderstood what Panama was.  I thought that Panama was Yahoo’s next generation of search engine, designed to close the gap on Google.  However, according to TechCrunch Panama will:
Panama [...]

MyBlogLog - Simply Brilliant!

I didn’t really pay attention to the recent Yahoo! acquisition of MyBlogLog as I very presumptuously assumed that I knew everything about the company, as I’d installed and removed the MyBlogLog code about a year ago.
However, I just noticed that gravatar type images were appearing on my comments.  At first I thought somehow I’d turned [...]

Give To Charities While You Search

I’ve been racking my brains this week to come up with a way to help some charities online this Christmas. I already do some charity work online by looking after BrainBlogger, the blog for the Global Neuroscience Initiative Foundation (GNIF), but I wanted to do more this Christmas.
Luckily, while I’m looking for a personal [...]

The Worst Internet Acquisitions Ever

The Internet can be a fickle beast. One day you can be the latest up and coming site, and the next a site that nobody uses. Seeking Alpha have put together a list of the worst internet acquistions ever, and it’s amazing how many names are on there who were once the darlings [...]

Flickr Introduces Digital Camera Guide

I really can’t think of a better way to find the best digital camera, than looking at what other people are buying.  Flickr have introduced stats on which digital cameras were used to take photos that have been uploaded.  They’ve even broken it down into point & shoot cameras, cameraphones and also by brand.
All cameras [...]
